Test driving the new ASICS Nimbus 28. So responsive. Soft landing. Floating. Super soft lacing system. I love a tight shoe but the laces and tongue are elastic like and make a tight shoe feel soft. So fast. Without effort I ran nicely over my feet and hit the ground softly. Love them. #soundmindsoundbody

The downhills load the quads and that bites in the last 10k. And be ready for a rough last 10k. The quads are sore. Muscles aren’t firing properly. Be stronger than ever! Commit to the finish. Be great!!

The best strength routine in the one you do. Remove all barriers. Have some simple equipment at home: kettlebells, dumbbells, Pilates ring, bands, medicine ball, physio ball. My quick routine is KB deadlifts with straight legs, goblet squats holding KB at chest, KB swings (pinch those butt cheeks), squats with biceps curl and dumbbell overhead press, renegade rows, Lunges with dumbbells in the air, reverse lunges, band work for quads and hips, adductor work with Pilates ring, wall stands with Pilates ring, hamstring curls with physio ball done as a bridge, bridging on ball, foot work with feet on ball, toe raises and eccentric heel drops. Core and mobility. Will post a few YouTube videos. @thefeed #welcometothefeed

Canada Day in Kona! We started with a shake out ru

Canada Day in Kona! We started with a shake out run and then it was time for breakfast and making friends and celebrating Canadian women who qualified for the Ironman World Championship. Massive thanks to the gracious women who attended. You bring me so much joy. To see women in sport is my happy place. Sport has changed my life and I am happy to see women embracing challenge and getting out of their comfort zone in pursuit of such goals. Thank you to ASICS Canada for supporting this project and making this celebration possible. Thanks to Innovetex for organizing shirts and CERVELO for standing with me. And thanks to The Zone Diet for sending granola and oatmeal!! Let’s go Canada. And let’s go Blue Jays.

If you have read my book or know my story, you know Makena! I met Makena and her brother Cameron and their mother Tracey in 2002 in New Zealand. Makena and Cameron had Cystic Fibrosis. Tracey arranged the meeting so that they could find a little bit of hope in their disease. Tracey was determined that they live full. Tracey went on to race Ironman New Zealand to raise money so that kids with CF would have access to sport. She was not a triathlete .. but she became one for her kids. And then she did the Ironman World Championships to raise even more awareness and money. Ironically, I raced that race as well and I was very sick. My lungs were flush with infection, but racing with Tracey and having Makena and Cameron there, I made it my mission to embrace my CF and my struggling lungs and be the best person I could be on the start line with a chest infection. I promised to race for every person with CF who would give anything to be in my shoes. That mental shift, allowed me to finish 4th at the Ironman World Champs that year. Yes, Tracey, Makena and Cameron gave me purpose and they are very much a part of my success in sport. Ironically, Tracey, Makena and Cameron had to leave Kona immediately post race because they were sick and of course insurance would not cover a pre-existing condition. So they cut their Hawaii post race holiday early and went home. Both Makena and Cameron went on to have double lung transplants. Makena was in hospital for over a year and had to have a kidney transplant as well. But once she recovered, she lived a life full of adventures. Yesterday, Makena went to heaven. Even though I haven't seen her since 2004, she has been part of my life for over 2 decades and I will miss her. She was part of every single race I did giving me a reason to finish no matter what! I am grateful for the advancements in CF treatments and management that I now enjoy. I won't squander this life that I have been gifted. Live full.

Two years ago, I took some time and went through all my photos to jog my@memory and find my happiest moment. Want to know what it was? Read my Substack!! Shirt version is: drive from Samorin to Vienna. Flew to Montreal. Uber to Tremblant. Pulled up to the Fairmont at 5 pm after starting the day at 12 am and there was Dave and Hadley waiting! Magic! Now in 2025, I will do the same. I will look back at my diary and photos and find that moment!! How about you?

Lisa Bentley raced for 20 years as a professional triathlete. In the course of her career, she has won 11 IRONMAN races, 11 IRONMAN 70.3 races (1/2 IRONMAN), several top 5 finishes at the IRONMAN World Championships, represented Canada on multiple National Teams and at the Pan American Games and was ranked top 5 in the world for a decade. She competed at the highest level despite having Cystic Fibrosis – a genetic lung disease resulting in chronic infections and limited lung capacity. Her CF was very controllable for much of her career and ironically, Lisa saw it as a blessing, which fuelled her passion for sport and excellence. In Lisa’s words, “every time I raced, I knew that my race served a higher purpose to give families hope that their children with CF could achieve similar things in life. And sport kept my lungs healthy so it was a double blessing!”
